Senior Pastor

We have been tremendously blessed with Dr. Blake Newsom’s leadership, biblical knowledge and encouragement as our Senior Pastor during this season in the life of our church. Blake came to Dauphin Way Christmas of 2014 as our Interim Pastor before accepting the call as Senior Pastor in February 2016. He comes to us with a wealth of education…

  • B.S., Delta State University, 2003
  • M.Ed., Delta State University, 2004
  • M.Div., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2008
  • Th.M., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2010
  • Ph.D., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2012

God has given Blake a deep passion for preaching His Word to as many people as possible while also teaching and equipping others to preach His Word. He feels called to encourage and equip people to be salt and light in a decaying and dark world in need of the life and light of Christ. Blake believes Christians are called to change the world through the proclamation of the glorious message of Jesus to all nations and generations. Blake affectionately refers to his wife, Brooke, as a Proverbs 31 wife, They have three children…Judson (9), Levi (6), and Nehemiah (4).

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

“And he said: “I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.” Jonah 2:2
