Our mission is to provide opportunities of service and ministry for Senior Adults. We accomplish this through a variety of programs where Senior Adults can utilize their time and talents and employ their wisdom and willingness to meet the needs of others and share the love of Jesus Christ.
Nursing Home Ministry
Senior Adults conduct service in seven area nursing homes. Ideally, each ministry team consists of a devotion leader, pianist, song leader and two helpers to conduct services for the nursing home residents. Dauphin Way Baptist Church nursing home ministry teams minister weekly to the following nursing homes and assisted living facility.
Our weekly schedule includes
Monday - Lynnwood Nursing Home @ 9:30 a.m.
Monday - Cogburn Nursing Home @ 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday - Gordon Oaks Assisted Living @ 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday - Gordon Oaks Nursing Home @ 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday - Crowne Nursing Home @ 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday - Cogburn Nursing Home Midtown @ 10:00 am
Thursday - Kindred Alzheimer Wing @ 10:00 a.m.
Thursday - Kindred Nursing Home @ 10:30 a.m.
Thursday - Springhill Senior Residence @ 10:00 a.m.
There is always a need for additional helpers for our nursing home ministry. It is such a blessing to all of us who are able to minister to these dear people.
Homebound Ministry
We have an organized Homebound Ministry Team where each team member has 7 or 8 homebound residents to visit, make phone calls, write notes and attempt to meet various needs of those confined to their home.
Sunday School
Dauphin Way Baptist Church has five Senior Adult Sunday School departments. Classes are available for men, women and couples.
Prime Timers
Senior Adults gather on the second Monday of each month for the Prime Timers Fellowship. This time together includes uplifting fellowship and an entertaining program followed by a hot lunch. Guest speakers range from community leaders to worldwide missionaries.
Volunteer Day
Possessing a wealth of experience and skills, our Senior Adults work in the church building and grounds to maintain a facility that is honoring to our Lord. Every Thursday is Volunteer Day and, the second Thursday of each month is Super Volunteer Day, where everyone, young and old alike are encouraged to lend a helping hand at Dauphin Way.
Upcoming Events
There is no better time of fellowship than taking an excursion or day trip with the Senior Adults. Dauphin Way Seniors have traveled to San Antonio, Texas, Virginia, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Callaway Gardens, Georgia, and Branson, Missouri. Restaurants and dinner theaters are also popular day trip destinations.
1st Wednesday of each month, we serve lunch at the 15th Place Shelter.
2nd Tuesday of each month, we provide food for a Homeless Women’s Shelter.
